Please bring your own toiletries and select
personal items with you when you are admitted. The hospital can also provide
these at a small charge.
Please
bring:
• personal toiletry items (toothbrush, toothpaste, razor, hand lotion,
facial tissue, lip balm, etc.)
• pajamas or nightgown (a hospital gown will be
provided)
• robe and slippers
• up to $10 cash for incidental gift shop or newspaper
purchases
Other important items to
bring:
• An accurate list of all medications you are taking, reason
for taking, dosing schedule and name of pharmacy where medication is filled.
Keep this record with you at all times. If there isn't time to make a list, you
may bring your medications in their original containers. You will be asked to
have a family member take your medications home directly after being
reviewed by a physician or nurse. In some instances you may be specifically
asked to bring your inhaler, medications for diabetes management, CPAP machine, etc.
• a list of any allergies and detailed information about previous
reactions
• insurance card(s)
• copy of your Advance Directive
• telephone calling card for long-distance calls
• eyeglasses or contacts*
• dentures, hearing aids, prosthetic devices, glucose
meter*
*
Glasses, contact lenses, dentures, hearing aids and prosthetic devices must be
kept in their cases in a secure place when not in use. If you do not have a case
for your dentures, please ask your nurse to provide one. Dentures wrapped in a
tissue or paper towel and left on meal trays can easily be discarded by
accident. We can not be responsible for lost, stolen or damaged
items.
Please do not bring any of
the following with you to the hospital:
• credit cards and cash over $10
• valuables and jewelry
• electrical items*
* If
you do bring an electrical item, it must be safety checked by a member of our
Clinical Engineering staff before it can be used. Your nurse can contact
Clinical Engineering.
